Book Review of The Little Book of Hours contributed by Susan Norman

Excerpt:

The Little Book of Hours offers not a new, but an old way to spend time with God each day. It is one of the many devotional guides based on the ancient monastic tradition of praying a service at set times during the day. Natural daily rhythms provide the time framework: Morning Prayer begins the day with praise; the Midday prayer intersects our busyness by drawing us back to Christ as the center of our lives; Vespers marks the transition from day to night with a sense of thanksgiving. In this way, as the introduction to this book reminds us, “we add our own voices to this ceaseless chorus, taking our part in the song that has been sung since creation began” (p. ix).
