Reflection Questions from Proverbs 1:1-7

Below are a few questions taken from, w/slight adaption, Tremper Longman III's How to Read Proverbs which I pose for your reflection:

1. Is there someone with whom you relate that you consider wise? If so, who is it and why?

2. As we begin a consideration of wisdom, do you consider yourself immature, mature, foolish? Why?

3. Do you consider yourself intelligent? Wise? Both? Neither? On what grounds?

It depends on the day of the week, the hour of the day, the circumstance I am in... I am never consistently mature, but I am never consistently immature or foolish either... I often like to describe myself as someone with a serious Peter Pan complex, but I also know that this is not a true picture of who I am...

There are certain child-like qualities I hope that I always have, curiosity, wonder, joy, but there are times when I recognize that maturity is called for, and I pray that I have it then, because I am not sure that I can ever call it up on my own.

I also know that certain situatioins will consistently bring out my immaturity and foolishness (as when I am cut off in traffic). I need to prepare myself before the situation presents itself, to anticipate that it will happen, and be prepared to strive for more maturity when it does happen.
