So can my fan friends tell me any inside information on what's going on with Star Trek XI besides what can be found at a site like ifmagazine? Considering Theresa mourns the loss of Alias not to be filled be Abram's Lost (and MI-III wasn't even given a chance), maybe I could convince Theresa to boldly go where she has refused to go before.

That article you mentioned covered all the solid facts to date. The only thing I can add at this point is that Matt Damon is the rumored front-runner to play young Kirk. I'm sure everyone will have their own opinion; personally, I'd rather see him play Spock.
I have to say that I find this project a little puzzling. Many fans feel that the Star Trek franchise has been overexposed lately and could use a longer hiatus to recharge its batteries and give fans a chance to actually miss it. That other big space movie franchise got mixed reaction when it went backwards rather than forwards. And don't get me started on the notion of a *Star* *Trek* movie based primarily at the Academy, which we know is on Earth. Whatever happened to boldly going where no man has gone before?
