FYI: Been reading The Danger of Raising Nice Kids by Tim Smith: The Parent's Coach. Lots of good material to apply as we enter this new phase of our life. More on it later, as we walk through some of the helpful exercises. For those of you in similar life situations, we'd encourage you to take a look at another helpful InterVarsity Press (IVP) resource.
I recently read "To Train Up a Child", by Michael Perls (I think that is the spelling of his name). This is the only book I have read of his, but I did like most of it, and look forward to other books.
I don't like his "training" sessions, that don't serve a purpose other than training - it seems to me that enough "real life" issues come up to provide "training" that I don't need to invent more.
Also, I haven't gotten all the way through "Shepherding a Child's Heart", by Tedd Tripp, but that is the parenting gospel according to our church, and it does have a bunch of good things in it.
