Confession II

More helpful thoughts regarding Confession from my friend Miller.

Certain confessional topics are helpful in a variety of contexts: worrying about many things, not finding time for prayer and bible study, difficulty forgiving those who hurt us, feelings of failure and inadequacy, feelings that God is angry with us, wasting time and money on frivolous things...jealousy is a little harder to talk about....i think the above areas can provide common ground for witness to friends....

it's interesting that unbelievers often have more freedom in talking about dark sins...since they don't turn to God to confess, they need another outlet to vent their guilt (even if they don't use the word "guilt")...also if their moral standards are low, they don't see their actions as sinful, so are more inclined to talk freely about things we find embarrassing...

believers are often troubled by some things that aren't clearly sinful, and it really helps to have a non-judgmental friend who is a listener...just the opportunity for discussion can bring light and someone to pray with us in these areas...
