Readying Baby's Room
Posted by tom | Mar 7, 2008We held a "Blitz Paint" on Friday and completely painted Baby's room and Eden's bedroom. We couldn't have done it without the able assistance of the "Ginder Girls", my (Theresa) aunts and grandmother who have lent their expertise for many a home improvement project over the years.
Note: For pics taken by Marie and Hayley go here.
We chose "aqua tint" for Baby's room and "touch of violet" for Eden's room. Tom took Eden to preschool for the morning and I called him just in time before he headed home so that he could pick up two more gallons of paint. The project used much more paint than I anticipated. He was also able to pick up our new futon mattress and cover which arrived at the futon store at the same time he did this morning. The futon goes in Baby's room which will double as our guest room. Rest assured (no pun intended), if you come to visit, we will move Baby out of the Guest room during your stay.
My grandparents were here for the event and I don't know who enjoyed the afternoon more--them or Eden. Eden had a willing audience for several hours of play and she took full advantage of the attention.
There is currently nothing Babyish about Baby's room because we'll have a guest staying with us during the first week of April. After his visit we'll transition Eden to a toddler bed and move the crib to Baby's room. I'm sure by then my nesting instinct will have kicked into overdrive and there will be no stopping this mama. Poor Eden is too big for her crib, which is a porta-crib. When she lays down to sleep she bumps her head on the slats and says, "scoot me, mama." So I pull on her legs until her head can lay comfortably on the mattress. She really needs to go the bed, but out of respect for our guest coming next month, I don't want to disrupt her sleep habits yet. Ellen and Hayley were compliant children and they had difficulty staying in their beds. Eden cannot be described as compliant so I anticipate a struggle when she goes to the bed.
So, we are another step closer to preparing for Baby's arrival. I am 27 weeks along--and counting!
