Join our family in prayer

Posted by tom | Sep 24, 2008

This evening I returned from Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ's weekly Praise and Prayer with much on my soul.  In particular, a yearning for God's grace to rest upon His people in Orissa, India.  If you have not already done such, I encourage you to let this article guide a time of prayer for you this evening/tomorrow morning:  24 Sep 2008 - Leader from BIC Church in India reports on violence in Orissa

When I prayerfully reviewed Facebook, I came across a link to Leaving the Episcopal Church: It's not about lifestyles; it's about believing that Christ is God.  This situation was already pressing upon me, as earlier today I had a conversation regarding the situation in 'da Burgh.  As I noted on Facebook, I am stirred to let my Episcopalian/Anglican brothers and sisters in Christ from 'da Burgh (and beyond) that I stand in support, bend the knee in prayer, and have empathetic heart/ear.  May God grant you the grace to follow Christ and Christ alone.

With regard to both situations and other prayer concerns such as the developing work at Penn State - Harrisburg and my Friday presentation on The Last Lecture taken a step further, I am struck by how true it is that we live in the midst of God's work in human history. ... we don't just read about His redemptive mission in writings of the past and visions of the future, but we find ourselves caught in the middle of an unfolding story here and now. May God the Father grant His people, through His Spirit, the grace and humility to embrace their creative calling to be little Christs. Enough reading and writing, join me in once again turning to prayer for God's transformative hand to extend with power in Orissa, the Episcopal/Anglican divide, Penn State - Harrisburg, and Penn campus.

Thanks for your sensitive heart and for bringing these things before others in this way. I join you in intense concern for Orissa, espec. with Greg's upcoming connection. I'll pray that your time at Penn tomorrow is wonderful!
