Oh my gosh, I totally went to a lecture by this woman while I was in grad school at CMU. She spoke at Pitt. So I'm glad she came to my alma mater eventually. While my notes are long buried, I remembered sitting there enamored by the fact that there even was such an organization. I felt like my mothership had finally landed! That is to say, I could relate to the basic premise of being against abortion and still completely for the empowerment of women. Of being pro-life and pro-woman at the same time. For example, I still remember her description of a rather novel idea for helping college-age, unwed women who find themselves pregnant: specialized on-campus housing and resources that will allow them to finish school and support their child. Flawed? Of course. Like that it's more expensive than providing on-campus abortions. Tsk, tsk. Expensive for whom?

Maggie, Thank-you for sharing your thoughts! I'm unfamiliar with, but very intrigued by Serrin M. Foster's work.
