Having good conversation

Not too long ago a friend shared with me the value of

turning down the volume on the firehose or at least spending more time in a given room before climbing through the window into the next room and the next room. ...

What a good word as I invite others in the Mid-Atlantic to partner with and engage in a pioneering work among Faculty and Emerging Scholars (Note:  pray for my time Wednesday evening with Messiah Village's World Prayer Team Meeting). AND have special occasions to share thoughts regarding the Next Steps in the Transition from High School to College, such as the one last night with the parents and youth at Cumberland Valley Brethren in Christ (part 2 next week).  Pray for particular clarity, insight, and focus when I share with those unfamiliar with the current climate of higher education and the importance of campus mission.

But it's also a good word for conversations in general.  This morning I received an email from a faculty friend who reminded me,

as we've learned, listening and asking the right questions often produces more fruit than giving mini-lectures to those who want to debate us.

Amen!  May God grant me the grace.  I have soooo much I desire to share, but what is most helpful to offer as the next step?
