Following Christ: The Conference as a Whole
Posted by tom | Dec 24, 2008Desiring to pray alongside us (and for us) as we're part of the Following Christ Prayer Team, but would value a brief video introduction to Following Christ 08 before turning to the below prayer requests? Then enjoy this promotional piece and pray for God's grace to accomplish such a mission at Following Christ 08 and day by day on campus. ....
A few larger scale prayer requests to get us started:
- Pray for a Christ-centered Christmas for all conference delegates, speakers, and support staff members. And for the fruit of the Spirit and the protection/guidance of God the Father to be evident in last minute holiday concerns, travel, settling into the hotel, and pre-conference on-site preparations.
- With regard to our travel: Theresa, Lily, and myself depart from Harrisburg early December 27 and transfer in Philadelphia en route to Chicago. Lord willing, we'll arrive in time to settle and then have lunch w/Andy Crouch (to discuss his Central PA speaking engagements, April 19 and 21) before a 1 pm intercessor/prayer team orientation. Pray for Eden, Ellen, and Hayley not to have too much fun while we're gone ;-) Particularly pray that they will listen to those who will serve as parents in the little things, such as eating, not too much TV, and going to bed at night. May God grant those who are serving the mission in this manner an extra once of stamina, discernment, and strength. Thank-you so much!
- The ability of teams to work together and communicate well.
- Final organizational issues.
- Personal concerns that weigh people down — illness of family members, job searches, and just the pace of life. Pray for those in need of a listening ear and prayer to seek out the prayer room and for members of the prayer team to be filled with the Spirit's discernment as they listen, counsel with the Word, and pray.
- The 22 people (including Theresa and Tom) who will be interceding in 3 hour shifts each day from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. Pray for our stamina, discernment and intimacy with God. And pray for discernment as opportunities to minister to delegates arise in the prayer room, the halls, and the general sessions.
- The plenary sessions and those who will be leading these times of worship and of teaching/exploration of Following Christ in higher education.
