"We're not as strong as we think we are" reminder
Posted by tom | May 7, 2011During a block of free time on Thursday, I failed to accomplish what I considered the most important agenda item of the day. AND yes, it was that I had difficulty writing. By the end of the day when one of my children asked for help with writing and a desire to finish a book we've been reading together this spring, I was completely sapped and frustrated. We pressed on and proofed her writing. But we didn't get to finish the book. Ever have a day like that? How do you respond?
On Friday after the kids were out of the house, I confessed my frustrations/anger to the Father. As Rich Mullins' "Here in America" sat near the CD player, I loaded it and took some time to reflect. Inspired, I searched Youtube for a "Here in America" video, but God drew my attention instead to "We're not as strong as we think we are," http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9vogh4Il34. How true and also what God has been teaching me for the past twelve plus years. I asked forgiveness for thinking that I could accomplish the task which I so desired to complete on my own strength. I offered the assignment to the Father. I asked for the Spirit and the Word to guide me. A new day. ...
