Ministry Goals for 2010-2012

As I mentioned in What type of Missionary Work you are presently performing? I've been doing a lot of self-evaluation. Below is a draft of ministry goals for 2010-2012. It's probably more than most of you are interested in reading, as such I gave you the headers in bold ;) Please pray through the list. Feel free to give feedback. Goals for 2010-2011, 2011-2012

Focus: Identify, encourage and equip budding Christian Scholars and Health Care Professional in South Central PA to be redeeming influences and witnesses in their communities.

Primary campus: PSU-Hershey

Secondary campuses (in order of priority): Elizabethtown College, Penn State-Harrisburg, Messiah College, Franklin & Marshall College, Evangelical Theological Seminary, Millersville University

Network campuses: Bucknell, Dickinson College, Penn State-College Park, York College

Supervision: Dwight A. Schwartz, Mid Atlantic Area Director (AD)

The below goals served for 2010-2011 and will continue to serve for the work in 2011-2012.

  • Serve the Mid-Atlantic GFM Region
    • Regularly pray for the work of God to advance on campuses in our region and God’s daily provision for the staff in the area.
    • Direct retreat (2011, 2012?) for graduate students to receive rest, refreshment, and refocusing upon Christ alone.
    • Regular communication with and reporting to area director.
    • Attend and actively participate in area team meetings/activities.
    • Represent Graduate & Faculty Ministry (GFM)/Emerging Scholars Network (ESN) at Mid-Atlantic Undergrad Regional Staff Conference (2010, 2011)
    • Participate in National InterVarsity Christian Fellowship gatherings/conferences for the movement and GFM in specific.
  • Be resource person for Penn State Hershey Medical Center Christian Medical Society (CMS)/Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA).
    • Participate in Men’s Bible Study, Summer Activities, Retreats (1 fall, 1 spring).
    • Host 1 summer event at house per year.
    • Pray with and provide counsel to the CMS leadership team.
    • Network with potential speakers and resource providers (e.g., food for weekly outreach lunch).
    • Connect with CMDA
      • Affiliate chapter
      • Monthly phone appointment with Scott Boyles, Northeast Regional Director
      • CMDA Field Staff Meetings
      • CMDA Field Staff on-line discussion group
      • Review mailings/material
      • Participate in Winter Retreat
      • Develop pre-med seminars with alumni and visit their campuses
        • Grove City College (2011, 2012)
        • Messiah College (2011, 2012 tbc)
  • Bring Christian scholars to campuses and community (South Central PA)
    • Pray for and actively work toward the establishment of a Central PA Christian Scholars Network. Pray for the work of God to advance on campuses in area and God’s daily provision for scholars, emerging scholars, and those with academic interests as they are ‘little Christs’ in their communities.
    • Network and explore partnerships in hosting Christian scholar gatherings/events.

    • Events: desserts, breakfast, dinner (Fall 2012?)
    • 1-1 appointments and phone conversations with not only current donors, but also potential donors
    • Monthly email and prayer calendar update
    • Periodic updates at http://www.groshlink.net (includes Monthly email and prayer calendar update)
    • Year end snail mail communication, i.e., November and May 7.
  • Continuing Education
    • Brethren in Christ Core Classes: completed 07/2011
      • Part of affiliation with Brethren in Christ - World Missions, with the intention of receiving ‘special assignment credentialing’ for work at Penn State Hershey Medical Center  with CMS but will also be of value on other campuses.
      • For relationship with World Missions, Perspectives in World Missions is also strongly encouraged. I may be able to substitute a missions class from Evangelical Theological Seminary.
    • Evangelical Theological Seminary, Myerstown, PA (01/2011): focus on spiritual formation, may result in an MA or an MA/MDiv combination. Seeking clarification in 2011-2012. A future goal of DMin or PhD would provide helpful guidance.
