God listens for our voice at daybreak
Posted by tom | Sep 25, 2011Psalm 5:3
The New Jerusalem Bible
I say this prayer to you, Yahweh,
for at daybreak you listen for my voice
and at dawn I hold myself in readiness for you,
I watch you.
Praise God! A text for us as we celebrate the Sabbath. One with which to begin the day and one with which to end the day with the expectation for tomorrow. For Psalm 5 in The New Living Translation click here.
I came across The New Jerusalem Bible's translation of Psalm 5:3 with the "extraordinary image -- God eagerly waiting for me at daybreak, listening for my voice" and the recommended practice of going to bed meditating upon such truths in Sacred Companions: The Gift of Spiritual Friendship & Direction (David G. Benner. IVP. 2002), which I'm reading for SF723: Christian Spiritual Direction. The class and the readings are a great encouragement in my walk with God in all aspects of my daily life. To God be the glory! If you're interested in learning more about the topic, I commend Sacred Companions to you.
