Posted by tom | Nov 29, 2011

In order to start 2012 ahead of the game finanically and focus on outreach instead of fundraising, I'm beginning a ministry update series which will run periodically through the end of the calendar year.

The below material is taken from our December email update. If you are not on this list, but desire to receive our monthly email, please let us know.

If you desire to give a year end gift and/or join the regular support team, on-line giving is available here.

2011 Penn State Hershey Christian Medical Society/Christian Medical and Dental Associations Fall Retreat at Kirchenwald

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

Your partnership enables me to be present for kingdom moments such as when I sat down at Penn State Hershey Christian Medical Society (CMS)/CMDA's Thanksgiving Dinner with a table of visiting Chinese scholars. Shortly after joining the conversation I was asked, "How are churches built [i.e., paid for in the United States]?"

While in conversation, I found out the student who asked the question studied at a medical school/hospital built by missionaries and wanted to figure out what motivates Christians to give/serve. The labors of the missionaries and their donors remain a witness over 100 years later, leading to opportunities to share the Gospel in the United States with visiting scholars. Such is the work of God. To God be the glory!

Approaching year end we rejoice in your prayers for and investment in our kingdom labors of encouraging and equipping followers of Christ to be the head, heart, and hands of Christ on campus, across the globe, and with colleagues/patients in the years to come. For a growing fall picture archive click hereFor a 30 second glimpse of the fall ministry see below or click here.

As you know, the campus ministry to which we have been called depends 100% on the provision of God through the generosity of the people of God. We desire to start the new calendar year with the financial resources to focus on reaching out to scholars/students as mentioned and pictured above (PSU-Hershey CMS/CMDA fall retreat). Thank-you for your prayerful consideration of deepening partnership and investment. If you desire to discuss specifics, please contact us.

In Christ Alone, Tom & Theresa Grosh

PRAISES/REQUESTS:

  • God's full provision for our $98,000 ministry budget (2011 - 2012. That's everything from pens/pencils to travel expenses to conferencing to books to salary/health care. It's almost like having a home business, not quite as I've seen that from the inside growing up in my parent's Dental office and with Theresa starting up Naptime Inspirations). Note: As of 12/15/2011, the Lord has provided $34,823.75 through His people.
  • A recent Ph.D. graduate has begun to assist with the South Central PA Christian Scholars Network, Christian Scholar Series, and Emerging Scholars Network Blog. Praise God!
  • Family time. Pray for our family to be patient with one another and focused upon Christ through a full season of Advent and Christmas. We have been learning and rejoicing in not only Thanksgiving, but also patience over the course of the past week.

Update (12/15/2011, 1:10PM): Financial Section of PRAISES/REQUESTS.
