Saturday Scripture Series: Matthew 6:10
Posted by tom | Dec 3, 2011“your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” From the Lord’s Prayer we ask for the coming of God’s kingdom and that God’s will be done here on earth. -- Matthew 6:10
A Scripture text (and prayer) which led me to prayer (and a meditation upon the Kingdom of God) while writing Finding Calcutta: Prayer and Our Calling -- based on a Sunday School which explored Mary Poplin's Finding Calcutta: What Mother Teresa Taught Me About Meaningful Work and Service (InterVarsity Press. 2008). Please join our family in praying the Lord's Prayer today.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one,
for yours is the kingdom
and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.
