Joni & Friends Summer Camp 2012: connections

Posted by tom | Jul 1, 2012

Singing at Joni & Friends Camp 2012.Yes, for most part I took time off from campus ministry while at Joni & Friends Camp this past week. But disabilities are part of daily life (including our family's), as such we had time with

  • parents of a PSU-Hershey alum ('12, PhD) who a younger child with disabilities
  • Brian Funk: Director of the Eastern PA office and parent of an incoming PSU-Hershey Medical student
  • Jerry Borton: Director of Greater Philadelphia Office, Professor of "Theology of Suffering & Disability" at Biblical Seminary. He has interest in resourcing ESN by blogging/speaking on the topic of challenges faced by those with disabilities. Note: This is a topic I've not thought much about in relationship to higher education, but is one which will become directly relevant to our family in a few years.
  • Mike King: Joni & Friends author/speaker/resource person in the area, http://www.livingwellwithadisability.org/2012/01/cross-country-in-a-wheelchair-living-well-from-sea-to-shining-sea/)
  • various Grove City College connections: including an alum living in South Central PA, a current student, and prospective student.
  • some beautiful few shared relationships from 'da Burgh :)

Note: Joni Eareckson Tada's coming to Biblical Seminary on March 8, 2013. I'll be marking that and a fall Eastern PA office event (September 29) on my calendar.
